EFT interpretation of XENON1T electron recoil excess: Neutrinos and dark matter

We scrutinize the XENON1T electron recoil excess in scalar-singlet-extended dark matter effective field theory. confront it with various astrophysical and laboratory constraints both a general setup more specific, recently proposed, variant leptophilic $Z_2$-odd mediators. The latter also provide mass to light leptons via suppressed $Z_2$ breaking, structure that is well fitting nature of observed discrete symmetry leads non-standard dark-matter interactions. find can be explained by neutrino--electron interactions, linked neutrino masses, while dark-matter--electron scattering does not lead statistically significant improvement. analyze parameter space preferred anomaly severe only avoided certain corners space. Potentially problematic bounds on couplings from Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis circumvented late phase transition new scalar sector.
